Activities
Dr. Cortesi is a Senior Researcher of the Gerobiomics & Exposomics Unit at IRCCS Istituto Romagnolo per lo Studio dei Tumori (IRST) "Dino Amadori" since 2015. Dr. Cortesi gained her PhD in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Pavia studying the role of sigma receptors and the mechanism of action of new pan-sigma receptors ligands in solid tumors, with particular attention at pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Her work is focused on preclinical and translational research related to the cellular and molecular biology of tumor cells and tumor microenvironment. She has been involved in several projects on cancer pharmacology, radiobiology, cancer-stroma cells interactions and cancer stem cells’ isolation and characterization. In particular, her research is focused on the interplay between senescent tumor and microenvironment with the goal of understanding how such cross-talk could affect tumor progression and response to therapy. She is the author and co-author of 18 scientific articles published in peer-reviewed national and international scientific journals resulting in a H-index of 8 (according to Scopus), and of numerous abstracts presented at international conferences. She is member of international scientific societies and she is also involved in editorial activity for international peer-reviewed journals.
